The Field

The Field

A calm, moonlit night
A giant field with no one for miles
We run to the middle
Lie in the grass
Side by side
Look up at the stars
There are more than I thought.
Damned city hides them with its light
We smile at on another
I bite my lip
Wondering what you feel
Hoping it's what I feel
You hold my hand
I shift my body closer to yours
The sky is clear
The moon is full
I lay my head on your chest
You and I in silence
The night is young
I rise to my feet
You follow
And take my hand
We dance like lovers
To the music of the night.
